It’s time for another Minute Mod project–quickie crafts you can make with materials you probably have around the house. This soy candle in my bathroom was vanilla in every sense–so plain! I’m still feeling inspired by Matisse’s La Gerbe ceramic mosaic, which I saw on my last trip to LA, so I decided to add freeform plants to the glass.
Here’s how you can make your own candle decals: Print blocks of color onto adhesive-backed paper. Draw stylized, kelplike plants on the back, then cut them out with the smallest scissors you have. Hint: my plants turned out better when I drew quickly, not carefully! Peel off the backing and stick your plants to the glass lightly at first; press down firmly once your composition is set.
