Local illustrator Sarah Neuburger’s latest print, titled “Atlanta’s Creative Class,” pays tribute to 50 women who write, photograph, stamp, style, and otherwise boost the arts and crafts scene in our fair Southern city. Yours truly is portrayed in the bottom row, third from the left. I’m honored to share this 12×16-inch stage with some of my closest friends, like Shannon Mulkey from the Indie Craft Experience, as well as talented ladies I’ve been admiring from afar for years. Sarah reached out to each subject and asked permission to draw her — a brilliant business move as well as a community builder, since we’ll all no doubt spread the word and purchase the print! In an email, she explained that this project allows her to skirt her introversion and “collaborate” with dozens of local movers and shakers in a way that feels “pretty comfortable and possible.” The best part is, she said, “I get to say hello and share that I think [they’re] doing great things.”
The new poster will hang alongside other city-centric art at the “Home” show Sept. 19 at Paper Ghost Studio in Candler Park, where Sarah shares workspace. The $25 print is also available in her online shop, The Small Object.
Congratulations! What a lovely honor.
